Your referral code is minted for your billing account the first time you open Referrals. It is short, uppercase and yours alone.
Open Referrals from the sidebar, or search for it
Your code is at the top of the page, with your link underneath it
Choose Copy for the code or Copy link for the full URL, or point a phone at the QR code
The link carries your code as ?ref=, so the person who opens it sees the code they arrived with and nothing is attached in secret.
On the Referrals page, choose Personalise
Enter 4 to 24 letters and numbers, then Save
Reserved words, words that would collide with another account's code, and codes that were retired before are refused, and the page says which.
An old code keeps working. A code you change away from is retired, never reused: it may already be printed, quoted or posted, so anyone who types it still reaches you. Only the most recent code is shown to you, and both count towards the same referrals.
A code belongs to the billing account that pays, so a team workspace shares the code of whoever pays for it. There is no separate team code, and no way to split one code's earnings between people.
