LLM CLI with idapt

Register idapt's base URL as an OpenAI-compatible model in llm and script any catalog model from the shell.

  1. 1

    Install

    bash
    pip install llm
  2. 2

    Point it at idapt

    yaml
    llm keys set idapt

    # extra-openai-models.yaml in llm's config directory:
    - model_id: sonnet-idapt
      model_name: anthropic/claude-sonnet-5
      api_base: "https://idapt.app/api/openrouter/v1"
      api_key_name: idapt

llm -m sonnet-idapt "Summarize this diff"

model_name is what gets sent to the endpoint; model_id is the local name. Check the registration with llm models --options -m sonnet-idapt.

  3. 3

    Going further

    bash
    # One-shot against the endpoint, nothing saved or logged:
    llm openai endpoint https://idapt.app/api/openrouter/v1 \
      -m anthropic/claude-sonnet-5 \
      --key idapt \
      --chat

Reasoning effort on reasoning-capable endpoints: -o reasoning_effort high (none, minimal, low, medium, high, xhigh, max).
