Set up Aider against idapt's compatible APIs with the steps below. This article and the AI Gateway quickstarts lander render the same shared steps, so they never drift.
Aider with idapt
One environment variable and a prefixed model flag put Aider on any idapt catalog model.
# .aider.model.settings.yml at the repo root
openrouter/anthropic/claude-sonnet-5:
api_base: "https://idapt.app/api/openrouter/v1"
# then, with the key in your environment or aider's .env:
export OPENROUTER_API_KEY="$IDAPT_API_KEY"
aider --model openrouter/anthropic/claude-sonnet-5The openrouter/ prefix selects Aider's OpenRouter dialect; what follows is the catalog model id. api_base in the model settings redirects the provider to idapt.
