How you authenticate
API key
- Create a service account in Atlas and note its client id and secret.
- Exchange them for a bearer token at /api/oauth/token; digest auth is deprecated.
- Atlas also requires your IP to be on the API access list.

Worth knowing
- The Accept header must carry a dated vendor media type or requests 406.
- The Admin API manages infrastructure; it does not read your documents. Use a driver or mongosh for data.
- Calls fail unless the caller IP is on the project's API access list.
