Does idapt Code replace the Claude Code terminal?

Not one-for-one. idapt Code runs in normal Chat and controls a selected computer remotely. Claude Code provides a dedicated local terminal and IDE experience.

Can I import my Claude Code history?

Yes, one command: idapt chat import --from claude-code reads your local sessions and imports them with dates and tool calls. Run it dry first, and the importer reports exactly what moved; imported chats stay continuable.

Can idapt Code use Claude models?

Yes, when the selected Claude model and provider route are available to the workspace. The same workflow can also use other hosted or compatible local models.

Which is better for Git and pull request review?

Claude Code has a purpose-built Git and coding-session experience. idapt Code currently asks the agent to use normal Git and a provider CLI on the computer, then reports the diff, tests, commit, push, or pull request in Chat.

Can I use Claude Code and idapt together?

What Claude Code is great at

Claude Code is a mature, coding-first product with tight terminal and IDE loops, direct Git workflows, project instructions, skills, hooks, configurable permissions, background agents, and managed cloud sessions. Teams standardized on Claude get a focused first-party harness, and its dedicated terminal and purpose-built Git tooling are ahead of ours.

What idapt Code is great at

idapt Code keeps the coding task in the same Chat used for every other model and workspace resource. It can work on a paired machine or an idapt cloud computer, use a compatible local model, pull credentials from workspace Secrets for one command, forward a preview port, and hand bounded work to subagents. When a non-Claude model tops the coding benchmarks, the same task runs on it without changing tools.

The limits question

Max plans meter usage in weekly windows, and a heavy agent week can hit the ceiling mid-task. On idapt there are no limit windows: platform usage bills transparent credits at the prices shown in the app, your own keys and local models are uncapped, and a heavy week costs what it costs instead of stopping when a counter resets.

The privacy question
