AI coding on a computer you control

The repository stays on your computer. idapt connects the normal Chat agent to the paired daemon, so it inspects files, runs tests, and uses the development tools already installed there.

Keep your development environment

Use the operating system, repository checkout, package caches, SDKs, and tools already on the machine.

Use local inference when it fits

A compatible Ollama model can run on the paired computer and participate in normal idapt model routing.

Open an editor if you want one

VS Code Server is optional. The coding agent itself works through the shell and filesystem.

Know the boundary

Pair only a machine whose data and access you are prepared to expose to the commands you approve. Computer policy and operating-system permissions remain the boundary.

On a cloud computer

A fresh cloud computer for the task

Access and credentials

Give a coding agent only the access the task needs

Choosing a model

Use the model that fits each coding task

Give it a project and one concrete task.

Pick a paired or cloud computer, name the project, and say what done looks like.
