Search and keyboard shortcuts

You can find anything in the app with a single keystroke and drive a conversation without touching the mouse. Global search and a handful of shortcuts make you faster once you know them ⌨️

Global search

Press Cmd+Kto open the search overlay. Type a few characters to search across your chats, files, agents, tasks, computers, and even the text inside your messages. Results are ranked by relevance.

Use the arrow keys to move through results and press Enterto open one. Press Escto close search without going anywhere.

Command mode

Press Cmd+Shift+Kto open search in command mode. You see a >prefix in the search bar.

Command mode runs actions instead of finding things, so you can jump to a view or trigger a command without hunting through menus.

You can also switch to command mode from regular search by typing >at the start of your query.

Move around

idapt runs in your browser, so the browser handles history. Its Back and Forward buttons, and their usual shortcuts, step you through the views you have visited, exactly as they would on any website.

Inside the app, press Cmd+Bto hide or show the sidebar when you want more room.

Chat shortcuts

While you type

  • Entersends your message

  • Shift+Enteradds a new line

  • Escstops a reply that is generating

Voice and pickers

  • Cmd+Dstarts and stops voice dictation

  • Cmd+Shift+Mopens the model picker

  • Cmd+Shift+Lopens the reasoning-level picker

Some browsers claim Ctrl+Shift combinations for their own features. Chrome uses them to switch profiles, for example. If a shortcut does not respond, check whether your browser has taken it.
