Team chats

Found this helpful? Share it:

A chat is private by default: only you and people you explicitly shared it with can read it. When a conversation matters to the whole workspace, share it with the team. A team chat is visible to every member of the workspace the chat's agent belongs to, and anyone in it can read the full history and send messages.

Share a chat with the team

  1. Open the chat, open its menu (the three dots in the header or the sidebar row), and choose Share with team.

  2. Read the confirmation and choose Share with team.

The chat moves to the Team chats tab of the Chats page for every member, and shows a Team badge next to its title.

Sharing with the team is permanent. A team chat can never be made private again, so double-check the conversation first.

What changes for everyone

After you share, every member of the workspace can:

  • Read the full conversation, including everything sent before the share.

  • Send messages. A message shows the sender's name and avatar above it, and your own messages show You.

  • See future agent runs execute with the agent's permissions, not yours. In a private chat a run uses the permissions of the person who sent the message; in a team chat the agent's own access decides what it may touch.

You stay the manager of a chat you shared: you can still rename it, export it, archive it, or delete it. Members of the workspace with manager rights can do the same.

Where team chats appear

The Chats page has two tabs: My chats and Team chats. My chats lists your private conversations. Team chats lists every chat shared with the workspace you are currently viewing, newest activity first. The workspace Activity tab also shows team chats, including runs started by automations; automation runs themselves live in the Automations Runs feed.

A new chat is always private, no matter which tab you are on. To make it a team chat, share it after you start it.

Team chats versus sharing with people

Sharing has two different meanings, and both exist:

  • Share with team makes the chat visible to every member of the workspace, permanently.

  • Share (the regular share dialog) invites specific people, keeps the chat private from everyone else, and lets you control each person's access. You can also create a view-only link there.

Use a specific-people share for a small audience, and Share with team when the whole workspace should see the work. If you want to keep your chat private and still give the team something to read, Fork to workspace chats copies the conversation into a new team chat and leaves your original untouched.
