Workspaces

Learn more about this feature

Workspaces keep your team and AI on the same page.Shared folders, agents, computers, and chats: one container.

A workspace keeps a set of agents, files, chats, and tasks together, and it is the boundary you share with other people. idapt always works inside one workspace at a time 📁

Every account can create workspaces Free and up. How many you can own depends on your plan.

What a workspace holds

Every agent, file, chat, and task board lives in exactly one workspace. Grouping them this way keeps unrelated work apart and lets you share a whole set of resources with teammates at once.

Because idapt is scoped to your current workspace, switching workspaces re-scopes the sidebar, your Drive, your agents, and your tasks all at once. Switch from the selector at the bottom of the sidebar. See Understanding the interface.

Your default workspace

Every account starts with a default workspace named after you, like Alex's workspace. It is the first entry in the workspace selector and the first tile on your workspaces page. Anything you create without choosing a workspace lands here.

It is an ordinary workspace: rename it, give it an icon, and share it with members like any other. Three things stay fixed. It cannot be deleted, archived, or transferred to another team, and it does not count against your workspace limit.

Create a workspace

  1. Open the workspace selector at the bottom of the sidebar and click New workspace

  2. Give it a name, an icon, and an optional description

  3. Start adding agents, files, or task lists

How many workspaces you can own beyond your default one is set by your plan:

  • Free: 1 workspace

  • Pro: 20 workspaces

  • Max and up: unlimited

Creating workspaces is part of your plan, not a credit purchase. To make more than your plan allows, upgrade.

Switch to a workspace or open it

Clicking a workspace switches your current scope to it. To open its dashboard instead, use Open in the workspace card menu on your workspaces page.

The dashboard has three areas:

  • General: the name, icon, description, and workspace settings

  • Members & Access: invite people and set their roles

  • Trash: restore items deleted from the workspace

See Members and roles to add people.

Archive a workspace

When a workspace is finished but you want to keep it, archive it from the workspace card menu. Archived workspaces drop out of the selector and the main list, and you can unarchive one at any time to bring everything back exactly as it was.

Delete a workspace

Deleting a workspace permanently removes everything inside it: every agent, chat, file, and task board. This cannot be undone.

Only the owner can delete a workspace. Do it from the workspace card menu or the selector row, then type the workspace name to confirm. If you only want it out of the way, archive it instead.

Move work between workspaces

Resources stay in the workspace where you made them, so there is no move between workspaces. When you need the same agent or file somewhere else, copy it into another workspace where that resource supports copying.

Running several workspaces with other people? Put them under one team for shared members and a single bill. See Teams.
