Who pays for a workspace

Share a workspace and someone has to pay for the AI. That someone is always the team that owns the workspace, and the owner can cap what it spends each month 💰

Sharing a workspace with members needs a subscription Pro and up.

The team pays

Every workspace belongs to a team, and every model run, agent, and computer inside it is billed to that team's plan, allowance, and Credit balance. It does not matter which member ran the work.

Workspaces you made for yourself belong to the team you got at signup, so their usage lands on your own account. Move a workspace into another team and its usage follows. See Team billing.

Because the workspace pays, members can work in it without a paid plan of their own. What limits the group is the team's roster size and budget, not who is on which plan.

Cap monthly spending

Open the workspace's General page and find Billing. It names the account the workspace bills to, and lets you set a Monthly Spending Cap in US dollars. Once the workspace's usage reaches the cap in a given month, paid work there pauses until the next month or until you raise it.

Leave it empty for no workspace cap. The cap covers only usage charged to this workspace, so it sits underneath the team's own monthly budget.

Only the owner sees and changes this.

See who is paying

Open the cost popover on any reply to see its price and a Billed to line naming the team that paid. Your own team reads by its name, like Alex's Team. Click the line to jump straight to that account's billing.
