Usage Credits let subscribers keep working past their plan's included allowance. Add credits once and they stay in your account until you use them, and auto top-up can keep the balance funded for you 💵
Credits are a subscriber add-on Pro and up: adding and spending them needs an active subscription. Without a plan, the paid options are upgrading or bringing your own provider keys (see Bring your own keys).
Credits fund every kind of paid usage from one balance: chat, image and video generation, web search, and code all draw from the same place. When you spend credits you pay the model prices shown in the app.
On a subscription, credits come in two ways:
Overflow: your plan's included usage is spent first. When it runs out, extra usage draws on your balance, and only if you turn on pay-as-you-go (see below).
Credits-billed features: some features, like video generation, bill only against credits rather than your included usage.
Credits never expire and there is no monthly reset. Whatever you do not spend carries over.
By default, pay-as-you-go is off: a subscription that runs out of its included usage stops at a plan wall rather than spending your credits. That protects you from surprise charges. To keep working past the wall, turn on pay-as-you-go.
Open Credits from the account menu, or go to /credits

With pay-as-you-go on, usage beyond your included allowance draws on your balance instead of stopping. With it off, you hit a plan wall. See Plans, allowances, and credits for how the walls work.
The Add Credits dialog offers the same pay-as-you-go option inline, unchecked by default, so you can enable it in the same step as funding your balance.
Adding credits needs an active subscription: the top-up checkout is not available on the free tier.
Open Credits from the account menu, or go to /credits, and choose Add Credits
Pick an amount with the slider. The default is $10, anywhere from $5 to $500.
Confirm in the checkout. Your balance updates as soon as the payment clears.
A 9.5% service fee plus any applicable tax is added on top of the amount you choose. Only the amount you chose lands in your balance: the fee is how idapt earns on top-ups. Your invoice shows the base, the fee, and the tax separately.
Self-serve top-ups are available in a set of supported countries. If checkout is not available where you are, contact support about other options.
Auto top-up keeps your balance funded so a long task is never cut off. When your balance falls below a threshold you set, idapt adds more credits using your saved payment method.
Add a default payment method first: auto top-up needs one saved to run.
On the Credits page, turn on Auto Top-Up

If you use idapt heavily, turn on auto top-up with a comfortable monthly limit. You stay funded without having to watch your balance.
Auto top-up runs only while your subscription is active. If your subscription lapses, auto top-up turns itself off, so you are never charged for a top-up you cannot spend.
Your Credit balance belongs to you. When you cancel or your subscription lapses, any remaining balance is preserved: it is not deleted and it does not expire.
The balance is locked while you have no active plan: it cannot be spent until you resubscribe.
Resubscribing unlocks it: the full remaining balance becomes spendable again on any plan.
Or request a refund: if you would rather not resubscribe, contact support and the remaining balance is refunded on request.
