Credits and auto top-up

Usage Credits let subscribers keep working past their plan's included balance. Add credits once and they stay in your account until you use them, and auto top-up can keep the balance funded for you ๐Ÿ’ต

Credits are a subscriber add-on Pro and up: adding and spending them needs an active subscription. Without a plan, the options are upgrading, or running open models on your own computer with Private AI.

How your credits are spent

Credits fund every kind of paid usage from one balance: chat, image and video generation, web search, and code all draw from the same place. When you spend credits you pay the model prices shown in the app.

On a subscription, credits come in two ways:

  • Overflow: your plan's included usage is spent first. When it runs out, extra usage draws on your balance, and only if you turn on pay-as-you-go (see below).

  • Credits-billed features: some features, like video generation, bill only against credits rather than your included usage.

Credits never expire and there is no monthly reset. Whatever you do not spend carries over.

Set your monthly auto top-up ceiling

Auto top-up charges your card only when your balance drops below the threshold you set. If you want a hard monthly ceiling on those charges too, set one in the same place.

  1. Open Credits from the account menu, or go to /credits

  2. Find the Auto Top-Up section and set the monthly ceiling (leave it blank for no ceiling)

The ceiling caps what auto top-up can charge in a calendar month. Manual top-ups are always exactly what you choose. See Plans, credits, and daily free usage for how the walls work.

Add credits

Adding credits needs an active subscription: the top-up checkout is not available on the free tier.

  1. Open Credits from the account menu, or go to /credits, and choose Add Credits

  2. Pick an amount with the slider. The default is $25, anywhere from $25 to $500.

  3. Confirm in the checkout. Your balance updates as soon as the payment clears.

A top-up fee (the greater of 5% or $0.50) plus any applicable tax is added on top of the amount you choose. Only the amount you chose lands in your balance. Your invoice shows the base, the fee, and the tax separately.

Self-serve top-ups are available in a set of supported countries. If checkout is not available where you are, contact support about other options.

Keep it funded with auto top-up

Auto top-up keeps your balance funded so a long task is never cut off. When your balance falls below a threshold you set, idapt adds more credits using your saved payment method.

  1. Add a default payment method first: auto top-up needs one saved to run.

  2. On the Credits page, turn on Auto Top-Up

  3. Set the top-up amount and the balance threshold that triggers it, and optionally a monthly limit

If you use idapt heavily, turn on auto top-up with a comfortable monthly limit. You stay funded without having to watch your balance.

Auto top-up runs only while your subscription is active. If your subscription lapses, auto top-up turns itself off, so you are never charged for a top-up you cannot spend.

If your subscription ends

Your Credit balance belongs to you. When you cancel or your subscription lapses, any remaining balance is preserved: it is not deleted, it does not expire, and it stays spendable. A subscription is a rights upgrade, never a condition for spending what you already own.

If you would rather have the money back, contact support and the remaining balance is refunded on request.

Track your balance and find invoices

Your balance and a full spending breakdown live on the /usage page. Your invoices for every top-up, along with your payment methods and billing address, live on the /credits page. See Invoices, taxes, and refunds.
