Plans, credits, and daily free usage

Found this helpful? Share it:

idapt gives you three ways to pay for AI: your Credit balance (a prepaid dollar balance that settles every model), the daily free usage floor (a small pool that covers everyday models when your balance is empty), and a subscription that raises your limits and unlocks paid features. You can use one or combine them 📊

The free tier is permanent: every signed-in account gets it, and you keep it if you cancel a plan. Your data stays and your daily free usage keeps working.

The three ways to pay

Every request draws on exactly one of these, in this order:

  • Your Credit balance: the prepaid dollar balance that settles every model and paid tool at the prices shown in the app. Every signed-in account can add credits, with or without a plan. One top-up permanently unlocks the full model catalog.

  • Daily free usage: a small pool (about $0.25 a day of real model cost) that covers everyday models when your balance is empty. It refills every 24 hours and never retires.

  • A subscription:

Pro or Max, whether you work alone or with a team, and Enterprise for contract billing. A plan raises your limits (concurrent runs, cloud computers, seats, storage) and unlocks paid features like video and GPU computers. It never changes how usage is billed.

Running open models on your own computer with Private AI is always free and unlimited. See Credits and auto top-up and Run models locally.

What the free tier includes

Everyday models (the $ cost band) run on your daily free usage whenever your balance cannot cover them: about $0.25 a day of real model cost, refilled every 24 hours. Daily free usage covers everyday chat, free-tagged image and audio models, and free tool grants. It is a fallback, never a primary meter: credits always pay first, so a funded balance never touches it.

Pricier models ($$ and up) are never covered by daily free usage: they draw on your balance. When your balance is empty, they show greyed in the picker with a top-up icon. See When chats run with caps.

What a subscription includes

A subscription raises your limits and unlocks paid features: more concurrent agent runs, more cloud computers, more team seats, more storage, video and GPU access, and higher automation ceilings. It is a rights upgrade. Usage itself always bills the same way as every account: from your Credit balance, at the prices shown in the app, with the daily free usage floor as the empty-balance fallback.

Because there is no included-usage allowance to run out of, a plan can never wall your everyday work: your balance and the daily floor govern it, on every tier.

What happens when you reach a limit

idapt tells you exactly which limit you hit and what to do about it. It never silently charges you.

What you see

What to do

Your daily free usage is spent

Wait for it to refill, add credits, or top up so your balance covers the work instead.

A model shows greyed with a $ icon

That model is not covered by daily free usage. Add credits and it unlocks; one top-up unlocks the whole catalog.

Your Credit balance is empty mid-run

Add credits, or turn on auto top-up so it refills on its own.

A team limit was reached

A billing admin for the team can lift it.

idapt never silently charges you. Every wall names the limit you hit and the fastest remedy, and nothing bills beyond the price you saw before you sent.

What each model costs

Every model wears a cost band in the picker, from a green $ for the cheapest up to $$$$ for frontier models. Before you send, you also see the estimated cost of the message next to the send button.

Every model shows its price up front, and usage is billed from your balance at the prices shown in the app. See Choosing models to compare bands and capabilities.

Storage and other limits

Your plan sets how much you can store in your Drive:

  • Free: 1 GB

  • Pro: 500 GB

  • Max: 2 TB

Storage up to your cap is included with your plan and is never metered. When you reach the cap, free up space or upgrade for more room. See Drive: files and folders.

Cloud-computer compute bills your balance per second at the prices shown in the app, and the free tier gets one free cloud computer session a day (60 minutes, cx23). See Cloud computers.

Where to manage it all

Your plan, Credit balance, invoices, and usage live on the billing pages, not in a settings menu:

  • Open Credits from the account menu, or go to /credits, to see your plan and balance, add credits on a subscription, and find invoices.

  • Go to /usage to watch your balance and daily free usage fill up.

On a subscription, the account menu shows your Credit balance with a + to add credits without leaving your chat.
