Sharing and access control

Learn more about this feature

Share anything. Keep ownership.Public URLs for files, agents, and chats: granular, revocable.

Share a file, folder, or chat with a link, and control who can find it. Anyone you send a share link to gets view-only access 🔗

Share with a link

  1. Right-click the file, folder, or chat you want to share

  2. Choose Share

  3. Pick a visibility level under General access

  4. Choose Copy link and send it to anyone

Copying a link on a restricted item switches it to Unlisted for you, so the link works right away.

Links are always view-only

A public or unlisted link only ever grants view access. People who open your link can read the content but can never edit, rename, or delete it. Editing is reserved for members of the workspace the item lives in.

Visibility levels

  • Restricted: only you and the members of the workspace it lives in can open it. This is the default.

  • Unlisted: anyone with the link can view it, but it does not show up in search or discovery.

  • Public: anyone can find and view it.

Who can change sharing

Making something public or unlisted, or changing its level, needs admin access to the workspace the item lives in. A viewer or editor can open what has been shared but cannot change how it is shared.

Share a whole workspace instead

When you add someone as a workspace member, they get access to everything in that workspace at once, with no per-file sharing needed. Their access follows their role: viewers can browse, editors can create and change, and admins can manage members and sharing. See Workspace members.

Folders share their contents

Sharing a folder shares everything inside it at the same level, so you can organize shared content into a folder instead of sharing files one by one. Unsharing a folder takes effect immediately for everything inside it.

Find what others shared with you

Open Shared with me in your Drive to see the files and folders other people have given you access to, all in one place.
