Adding a task takes seconds. Type a title, fill in as much or as little as you want, and edit any field later straight from the task 📝
Open the Tasks List you want to add to.
Click Add task to open the inline form.
Type a title, and optionally set a description, status, priority, start date, due date, and labels right there.
Press Enter to save.
The button is Add task, not "New task". Saving with Enter keeps the form open, so you can type the next title and keep going when you have a batch to capture.
The moment a task is saved it gets its own id, like OR-124, so you can reference it anywhere right away.
Every task has a status and a priority. Set them in the Add task form, from the open task, or straight from the board as work moves along. See What are Tasks? for what each status and priority means.
Open a task to change anything about it. Click the title or description to edit it, then Save to keep your change. Status, priority, dates, assignees, and labels each update on the spot.
The open task supports single-key shortcuts, like e to edit. See the full set in Track and collaborate.
Assign a task so everyone knows who owns it. A task can have several assignees, so add everyone who is on the hook, not just one person.
Open the task.
Click Assignees.
Pick a workspace member to add them, and keep adding people.
Assignees show as a stack of avatars on the task. Open the menu again to remove anyone who is no longer involved.
You can assign a task only to a member of the list's workspace, and never to an agent. To assign work to someone new, invite them first: see Members and roles.
Add yourself as an assignee to claim a task, so the rest of the team knows it is covered.
Give a task a Start date for when work should begin and a Due date for when it needs to be finished. Either one is optional, so use whichever fits.
Labels group tasks across a list, like bug or design. Open the Add label menu on a
task to attach one, and to create, rename, or delete labels for the
whole list.
Deleting a label removes it from every task that carried it, not just the one you are looking at.
