Start with what it IS in one sentence, before any analogy. An explanation that
opens with a metaphor teaches the metaphor.
Then: why it exists (what was broken without it), how it works, and where the
simplification you just made breaks down. That last part is what separates
understanding from a comfortable feeling.
Use one analogy at most, and say what it gets wrong. Finish with the question
the reader should be able to answer now, so they can check themselves.- learning
