Marketing
Define your ICP
Who to sell to, what they are trying to do, and where they already are.
Fill it in
What it does and who has used it so far.
In real signals rather than an invented persona with a stock photo.
Your prompt
Define the ideal customer profile. [the product] Ground this in real signals: who has actually bought, who converted fastest, who churned, and what the people who said no had in common. A persona invented from intuition and given a name and a stock photo is a creative writing exercise that then shapes a year of marketing. Describe the SITUATION, not the demographic. Age and job title predict very little; "invoices 12 clients a month and chases three of them" predicts whether someone buys. Write the trigger: what has to happen in their week for them to go looking. Most positioning fails because it describes someone who has the problem but no reason to act today. Say who is explicitly NOT the customer, and why. That is the half people skip.
Use Define your ICPOpens with everything above already filled in.
Why this works
A persona invented from intuition and given a name and a stock photo then shapes a year of marketing. This grounds in who actually bought, who churned and what the people who said no had in common, and describes the situation rather than the demographic.
