Research

Tear down a competitor

Research a rival product and lay it out against your own.

Use Tear down a competitor

What it asks you for

Competitorrequired
Name and site.
Your productrequired
What you sell and to whom.

What it tells the AI to do

Tear down {{ competitor }} for {{ ours }}.

Research the live product, not the marketing site alone: pricing page, docs,
changelog, and what users say in public. Say when you could not verify
something rather than filling the gap.

Lay it out in four parts:

1. **What they actually do**, in their own framing, stated fairly. A teardown
that strawmans the competitor is useless the moment a customer has used them.
2. **Where they are genuinely better.** If this section is empty you have not
   finished the research.
3. **Where we are better**, each line with the evidence a buyer could check.
4. **The open ground** neither of you holds.

End with the one sentence a salesperson can say when a customer asks how you
compare. It has to survive the customer having read both sites.

Why this works

A teardown that strawmans the competitor is worthless the moment a customer has actually used them. This states their product in their own framing first, then requires a section on where they are genuinely better, because a teardown with that section empty is one where the research stopped early.

Questions

Does it browse their live site?
Yes. It reads pricing, docs and changelog rather than working from the marketing homepage, and it says which claims it could not verify instead of filling the gap.
